The Journey Museum

The Duhamel Collection of Native American Artifacts was a gift to Rapid City from Helen and A.F. Duhamel in 1985. Extending to several hundred items of traditional Sioux arts and crafts, the collection was formed during the earlier years of the family's prominent saddle and hardware business, located in the Duhamel Building in downtown Rapid City. It remained on display there until the company closed in 1985. The artifacts comprising the Duhamel Collection were, for the most part, obtained from the Pine Ridge, Rosebud, and Cheyenne River reservations.
