STEAM Saturdays: Volcanoes

  • Journey Museum & Learning Center 222 New York Street Rapid City, SD, 57701 United States (map)

Join us for an exciting STEAM event all about volcanoes! Students will get hands-on as they build their own volcanic models using plaster, creating realistic structures that mimic the dynamic nature of eruptions.

They’ll also explore the locations of active volcanoes around the world, gaining a deeper understanding of volcanic activity and its impact. The event culminates in an unforgettable demonstration of "Devil's Toothpaste," a chemical reaction that produces a foamy eruption. This interactive, educational experience combines science, art, and engineering to inspire curiosity about the powerful forces shaping our planet. Don't miss out on the fun!

Two program times are available, 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM. Programs are intended for elementary and middle school age groups. Parents are welcome but not necessary for students ages 8 and above but are required for students under 8.

STEAM is FREE for museum members or included with admission for non-members.

Space is limited, so call 605-394-6923 to save a spot today!
