Donovin Sprague, university instructor, author and historian, will present a lecture entitled The Battle of Greasy Grass on June 30, from 2:00 P.M. - 3:00 P.M. This presentation will explore the historic battle from a Lakota perspective. Donovin will also discuss the ongoing National Park Service project to build a new visitor center at the Little Bighorn National Battlefield National Monument. Following the presentation, the museum will host a book signing Mr. Sprague. The event is free and open to the public.
Born and raised on the Cheyenne River Reservation, Donovin Sprague is an enrolled member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe and a descendent of both Chief Hump and Crazy Horse. Donovin is currently a professor at Sheridan College, Sheridan, WY. He conducts also conducts tours and has presented at major universities, museums, and cultural centers throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe. He was awarded the 2015 Ziebach County Historian of the Year Award by the Ziebach County Historical Society. He is the author of 10 books, the most recent being Hump and Crazy Horse.
